How does your heritage influence your business’s mission and identity?
My cultural heritage has influenced both my company’s identity and mission by focusing on community. Our company focuses on supporting migrant women, particularly Spanish-speaking migrant mothers, to seek and create their own opportunities to move forward. By sharing my story as a source of inspiration, I have made it my mission to assist immigrant women through trade focused apprenticeships and entrepreneurship.
What unique strengths or perspectives does your heritage bring to the way you run your business?
My experience, knowledge, and most importantly, my values are some of the strengths and perspectives my heritage brings to my business. In this trade, values such as honesty, humility, loyalty, commitment and grit are essential in creating and guiding the way I lead my business.
What role does your business play in supporting and empowering the local Latino community?
I provide support to my local community by giving talks, sharing information, and providing resources to other female entrepreneurs through my involvement of latina entrepreneurship programs such as (AIMSA) Association International de Mujeras Salavadornas and MACH (Mujeries Activas en el Comercio Hispano) where I was the president for 4 years.
What is one tradition or lesson from your heritage that you hope to pass down to the next generation of Latino entrepreneurs?
One tradition or lesson from my heritage that I would like to pass down to the next generation of Latino entrepreneurs would be my real-life experiences with grit and adaptation. I want the next generation to know that anything is possible when you have the will, determination, and desire to succeed. As in life, a business will always provide you with plenty of obstacles to overcome, the lesson is not to see these obstacles as a negative but as an opportunity to adapt and grow, it is not the obstacle but how you learn to deal with the obstacle that matters.
